Nestled in the picturesque Daisen area of Tottori, Mt. Daisen Time Shop is more than just a cafe; it’s a culinary gem boasting a unique blend of local flavors and delightful treats. This charming establishment is the perfect pit stop for hikers and tourists, offering an inviting atmosphere to relax and savor the authentic taste of Japan.

The menu at Mt. Daisen Time Shop is straightforward yet enticing, featuring a select range of offerings that highlight local delicacies. The standout dish is undoubtedly the 権現だんご (Gongen Dango), served in various delightful iterations for just JP¥150 each. Customers can indulge in three distinct types of dango—plain, sesame, and a special variety that captures the essence of Japanese confectionery. Each bite is a harmonious balance of sweetness and texture, making it a must-try after a hike up the majestic Mt. Daisen.

On the beverage side, the cafe is also known for its refreshing Hojicha and Matcha Gelato. These rich, creamy delights offer a delicious respite from the day's activities, with the smoky notes of hojicha perfectly complementing the rich green tea flavor of matcha. Reviews rave about the gelato, noting its ability to refresh and satisfy after a long trek.

The ambiance at Mt. Daisen Time Shop adds to its charm. With a cozy interior that melds traditional Japanese aesthetics with a modern touch, it invites guests to sit back, relax, and enjoy their delicacies amidst a serene backdrop. Customer Jagoda W highlights the shop's role as a quaint stopover, particularly enjoyable after exploring nearby trails. Visitors are encouraged to sip on complimentary hojicha tea while they sample their treats, enhancing the overall experience.

Moreover, patrons like Thomas Greenwood appreciate the affordable quality of the dango and gelato combo: “For 600 yen, you get two delicious dango sticks and a scoop of gelato—what a deal!” It’s this attention to quality and value that solidifies Mt. Daisen Time Shop as a beloved local spot.

While the cafe has only recently ventured into the ramen scene, offering a simple yet satisfying option that features a lovely citrus yuzu kick, many customers express a desire for more variety in toppings. As noted by Elson Lim, the ramen is decent with a simple broth—great for a quick meal on the go.

Whether you're a local looking for a casual hangout or a traveler wanting to embrace the flavors of Tottori, Mt. Daisen Time Shop promises an unforgettable experience filled with warmth, delightful treats, and a slice of Japanese culture. Don’t miss your chance to indulge in this local treasure!

A cafe that serves one single type of ramen. Ramen is decent, simple broth, nice yuzu kick. Wish they had more toppings to choose from. Matcha and hojicha Gelato is pleasant and refreshing. We never tried but seems like people visit for the Dango.

Nice little shop with local souvenirs and some snacks. They serve three types of dango (plain, sesame, and one more which I can't remember the name of) and ice cream. A great place to stop by after some hiking. Hojicha tea and water is free of charge.
